Acne Scars Treatment

Acne scars can be a painful reminder of dealing with breakouts for months or years, no matter if they were mild or severe. Let’s talk a little about acne scarring. There are several different types of acne scars: Ice Pick (pitted), Boxed Scar (Square), Rolling (divot) and Hypertrophic (raised scars or Keloids). When talking about scarring, we mean where the skin is pitted or depressed. Many clients come in concerned about their “acne scars.” What they usually mean are the red/ brown spots left over from their breakouts. We call this Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation or PIH for short. At Atlanta Acne Center, we don’t truly perform scar revision or get rid of acne scars, but we can help minimize acne scarring and/or PIH in several ways. Some of the acids in the products you will be using to get rid of acne are naturally lightening on their own. By using them daily and doing acne treatments regularly you will notice the ”acne scarring” starting to lighten on its own. Once you are clear for at least 6 months, we can start a series of microdermabrasion treatments or stronger chemical peels to even out the texture and tone of your skin.

We do not accept insurance, but we can provide you an itemized receipt if you would like to file a claim on your own.
